Montreal will be the host of a unique investment conference that promises to raise millions for pediatric healthcare research. The first-ever Sohn Montreal Investment Conference, presented by Converium Capital and Richter, will take place on May 28, bringing together prominent global investors and allocators in Quebec’s largest city.
Proceeds from the event will benefit two of Montreal’s leading pediatric hospitals—the Montreal Children’s Hospital and Sainte-Justine’s Hospital—both of which have been at the forefront of pediatric research and care for decades.
The Conference’s Host Committee includes influential figures from Montreal’s financial sector, such as Aaron Stern, Chief Investment Officer at Converium Capital, Anik Lanthier, Chief Investment Officer at Richter, and several other leaders, including Francois Rivard, President and CEO of Innocap, Mario Therrien, Head of Investment Funds at CDPQ, and Eduard Van Gelderen, former Senior VP and Chief Investment Officer at PSP Investments.
“We are proud to bring the Sohn Investment Conference to Montreal for the first time,” said Aaron Stern. “The Sohn brand offers a unique platform for global financial leaders to unite in support of critical pediatric healthcare initiatives in our community.”
One highlight of the conference will be a fireside chat with David Einhorn, Founder of Greenlight Capital, who has long been bullish on gold. Einhorn’s firm saw a net return of 8.2% in the first quarter of the year, with his gold allocation, including physical bullion and call options, experiencing a 19% gain. He remains optimistic about gold’s future as the U.S. dollar faces challenges to its status as the world’s reserve currency.
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Sohn Investment Conference, which began in 1995 in New York to honor the memory of Ira Sohn, a Wall Street professional who passed away at 29 due to cancer. Over the past three decades, the conference has raised over $50 million for various charitable causes, including pediatric healthcare.
