London Jewelers Celebrates a Century of Elegance and Generosity

by Darren

As London Jewelers approaches its 100th anniversary, the family-run retailer reflects on a legacy built on fine craftsmanship, enduring relationships, and a deep commitment to community giving.

“Having a business that has survived 100 years with four generations involved is very rare today,” said Candy Udell, president of London Jewelers. She runs the company alongside her husband, Mark; their children, Randi and Scott; and their nephew, Zach. “We started with just four people. Now, we have 18 stores across New York and New Jersey, all carrying the top names in luxury jewelry and watches.”

Over the decades, London has cultivated personal relationships with the founders of many iconic brands long before they became global powerhouses. “We go back a long way with Rolex, Patek Philippe, Cartier, Bulgari, Van Cleef & Arpels, Panerai, Buccellati — it’s been incredible building those relationships for more than 50 years,” said Udell.

Looking ahead, the brand is preparing for a landmark year. “We’re working on some incredible projects,” she said. “A new Rolex Boutique just opened in Manhasset, and another — the first of its kind — will debut in East Hampton this August. We’ll also be launching a new watch boutique next year, complete with a dedicated Patek Philippe salon.”

To mark its centennial, London is planning a series of high-profile events, from in-store celebrations to specialty product launches. The company will also complete “100 good deeds” in honor of its anniversary — from scholarships to charitable giving, including COVID-era initiatives like providing hot meals to five local hospitals.

“Giving back to the community that supports us is our personal mission,” said Udell.

Gifts for Every Generation

Whether for Mother’s Day, engagements, anniversaries, or personal milestones, London Jewelers offers curated luxury with timeless appeal.

“There’s something incredibly meaningful about giving a watch or piece of jewelry,” said Udell. “These are items people pass down for generations.”

For Mother’s Day, the Manhasset flagship will feature handmade silk flowers and tulip bouquets, along with personalized shopping experiences. Classic diamond studs, tennis bracelets, and tennis necklaces remain customer favorites, but London also offers customizable charms and layered metal looks for moms of all ages.

“The London Collection really has something for everyone,” said Udell. “From newborns to sporty teens to glam grandmas, our fashion and classic jewelry fits every lifestyle.”

Bold gemstone pieces — including rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and tourmalines — are also gaining popularity for their individuality. “People often overlook color,” she noted. “But we have pink, green, turquoise, yellow — so many hues to explore.”

Vintage styles are another growing trend. “Retro has become incredibly popular,” said Udell. “It’s something we’re leaning into with real purpose.”

Among the newest additions is Verdura, known for its legacy of designing for royalty and film stars alike. “Coco Chanel was often the muse,” said Udell, referencing the brand’s iconic Maltese Cross cuff.

A World Beyond Jewelry

In addition to fine jewelry and watches, London Jewelers offers a curated Gift Gallery — currently housed at Wheatley Plaza in Greenvale — that features luxurious home accessories and lifestyle items.

The collection includes crystal and china from Lalique, William Yeoward, and Baccarat; tabletop pieces by MacKenzie-Childs, Michael Aram, and Rosenthal; and standout items like Jonathan Adler’s Futuristic Fantasy Globo Tripod bowl and Georg Jensen’s Indulgence Grand wine cooler.

“There’s something for every price point and every occasion,” said Udell. “Engagements, weddings, anniversaries, birthdays — we’ve got it covered.”

For little ones, there are soft plush toys from Mon Ami and cozy essentials from Elegant Baby. These items can be bundled into themed gift baskets for baby showers or new arrivals.

And for the pet lovers, London offers the “Cause for Paws” jewelry line — designed to support animal shelters and rescue organizations. A dedicated dog rescuer herself, Udell has helped save over 10,000 dogs.

“This line is popular year-round and especially meaningful for those who love animals,” she said.

As London Jewelers prepares for its centenary celebration, the company continues to embody its founding values of elegance, integrity, and generosity — proving that timeless treasures can be found not just in jewelry, but in the relationships and communities built along the way.
