Tiffany & Co. has introduced a new timepiece that seamlessly blends sustainable innovation with archival elegance. The Rope watch, crafted in 18k yellow gold, is the luxury brand’s first solar-powered model, combining environmentally friendly technology with the artistic legacy of legendary jewellery designer Jean Schlumberger.
Drawing inspiration from Tiffany’s extensive archives and Schlumberger’s signature motifs—such as tassels, braids, and woven forms—the Rope watch pays homage to mid-century creativity. Schlumberger, who joined Tiffany & Co. in 1956 and spent over three decades shaping its design language, is best known for whimsical creations like the iconic “Bird on a Rock” brooch, which features a 128.54-carat yellow diamond.
The Rope watch continues that tradition of bold design. Its dial is framed by two interlaced gold ropes separated by a ring of round brilliant-cut diamonds, adding texture and brilliance. The rope motif extends to the minute hand, reinforcing the theme throughout the timepiece.
Buyers can choose between a mother-of-pearl or glossy black dial, with two case sizes available. The 27mm model is adorned with 38 diamonds totaling approximately 0.52 carats, while the 33mm version features 39 diamonds totaling 0.9 carats.
At the heart of the Rope watch lies a cutting-edge solar movement developed in collaboration with Swiss manufacturer La Joux-Perret. This technology allows the timepiece to operate for up to eight months on a full charge—even in complete darkness. Light enters through a semi-translucent dial, where embedded solar cells capture and convert it into energy. Just two minutes of sunlight exposure can power the watch for a full day.
The introduction of the Rope marks a milestone for Tiffany & Co., signaling a step toward more sustainable luxury. With its blend of innovation and historical homage, the Rope watch is poised to appeal to both watch connoisseurs and admirers of the brand’s storied aesthetic.
